More Frequently Encountered Internet Terms
“Help” — Clicking “HELP” sends you to the Help page that has “popular” help solutions but not the help you needed or asked for. No matter what question you ask in the help search bar, it will always return “popular” information and ask you if that solved your problem. When you click on “NO” it will send you to the Help page.
“Contact Us” — This will send you to a page describing how feedback, communication, and customer satisfaction is the most important thing the company could ever achieve. It will then direct you to the Help page without providing you with an actual way to contact them.
“Unsubscribe” — This button does NOT cancel your subscription to whatever site or service you were foolish enough to subscribe to. Instead it hijacks your browser, forces you to enter additional personal information on an unsecured screen, demands you take a survey explaining why you think you want to unsubscribe, and then insists that if you still feel the need to unsubscribe you call a telemarketing number and talk to a “customer representative” who will badger you into remaining subscribed. It NEVER unsubscribes you.
