Definitions of Frequently Encountered Internet Terms
“Updated” — An updated article or post provides no new news. The authors just re-paraphrase information already in the previous version of the article and repost it. Oh… they DID change the date of the announcement and the title, so I guess THAT’s new!
“Featured” — It’s not really things that are of any interest to YOU. It’s just stuff they are either having trouble selling or have such an extensive markup on that they are making an obscene profit on each one they sell. So it’s in your face until the stock is gone.
“Popular” — this means someone paid them to put their advertisement or other self-promoting item at the top of your home page, search page, or news page despite the fact that it pertains to nothing asked for or even want. No one else wants it either, but it becomes “popular” because people think everyone else is going there and they click.
